The Parish Council were aware that there has been an “official allotment waiting list” on the council’s files since 2005 however, the parish council were unable to offer any suitable land for allotments, so when Taylor Wimpey purchased the Eden Grange site the Parish Council advised Taylor Wimpey and Cheshire West & Chester Council that, provision for allotments should be considered during the planning permission stage (which was in 2012).
In 2023 contracts have finally been exchanged and an independent group have set up Cuddington and Sandiway Allotment Association Ltd.
Julie – Parish Clerk says;
“Allotments will allow residents’ opportunities to grow healthy, fresh food while benefiting from fresh air and exercise. It helps improve mental well-being. Plot holders will tell you that time spent on their plots sowing, weeding and nurturing plants makes them feel calmer and less anxious”.
